Sheesh

October 8, 2011

Urgh. I just realized I haven’t written anything in a while! I’ve been keeping a journal while here in the sandy land of the Afghan (which I have admittedly been behind on too!). Not too many adventures as of late, so no biggie. Anywho…internets…I will talk to you again soon!

morning light

February 10, 2011

Got up this morning early, took a good shower, did some crunches and pushups while listening to pandora.

BOLC so far has been fine. I’m more worried about the PT test than anything. I used to be scared of it in the past, especially with so much going on in my life. But now, I see it as a challenge. One that I can face up to and beat.

If I’ve weathered everything that’s been thrown at me so far (divorce, failed relationships, broken friendships, getting terminated from residency), I should be able to do a 2 mile run in less than 18 minutes.

Still sucks though. And I’ll still whine about it. How else am I supposed to vent and get this shit out?

Moved out of the “hotel” yesterday and into a friend’s house. I’m thankful for that. It always seems like no matter what kind of shit gets thrown on me, there is always something shiny and valuable that I find in the middle of that pile of shit that proves to me, yet again, that God is out there looking after me.

After all of us. You just have to be able to see that jewel in the pile of shit. It’s there.

Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser

I have been looking for a great leather jacket since I am a daily Harley Rider (2009 ElectraGlide Classic). I ride sunshine or rain, and for me, wind protection and warmth are key in the fall/winter. I normally use my Evolution Jacket since it has tons of pockets (I actually DO use the sleeve pockets to wire my heated gloves), which is great since it keeps me warm and dry, but for wind resistance on a motorcycle it’s average. Leather is always the best wind repellant, and so when I saw the news about the XAE Leather Jacket I jumped at the first chance to buy (become an SEVIP member…it’s totally worth it!).

The jacket looks great, without a doubt…and I never did doubt it knowing the high quality of products from Scott. What impresses me the most is how even HIGHER quality the jacket is compared to the previous jackets I’ve owned (Evolution, Tropical Travel Jacket). It truly is worth the moniker of “limited edition.”

It has just the number of pockets that I feel comfortable switching over to this one for my primary riding purposes without feeling like I am compromising anything. For rain repellant, I simply sprayed the jacket with a “silicon” based repellant I bought from the Bass Pro Shops (works great on ALL leather products…I use them on my riding boots and cold-weather pants).

The jacket is nice and warm, and the color is perfect. I know some people wanted a black color, but trust me on this one…the dark brown works much better. Black tends to show scratches more and brown leather, as it ages, looks better than aged black leather. I have an old black leather jacket I bought in Florence, Italy and it looks worn out to the point where i don’t wear it anymore (lots of white creases where the lambskin leather has worn at the creases).

All in all, owning the jacket is just proof positive that ScottEVest takes great pride in their products…but more importantly, in their customers. In purchasing the jacket, the folks in customer service were great to work with me on “saving” the jacket until I could pay for it (had to gather together Christmas money to do it).

A shout out to Julie Ellingson in Customer Service! She was always quick to reply to my emails, and everyone I have ever dealt with from ScottEVest has always been “Freakin’ A-Awesome!”

Great quality products mean nothing without Great quality customer service, and ScottEVest is one of the few standout companies that offer both.

Great job on the jacket, and if you don’t own one…buy one NOW before they sell out! Be one of the “Fab 400!”

Life is full of potholes

November 8, 2010

This morning I’ve been thinking of how to prevent my career from being flushed down the toilet. This isn’t the first time my life has hit a pothole and thrown off my alignment. It won’t be the last.

Some days I just want to give everyone who craps on me a big “F– you” and a punch to the kidney.

I think everyone should be allowed one moment during the day (or week) where you can just say “F– you” to someone….ANYone who deserves it. And we all know that there are lots of people out there in our lives that deserve it.

Customer service is dead

August 23, 2008

So I’m sitting here at the petsmart vet office to drop off my dog for his annual physical (which I haven’t even had for like 8 years) and no one is here. At 730 in the fucking morning like they told me. The store manager walks by and I ask her if anyone is here. Her response? “I don’t know. I don’t work on this side.”. She’s about to walk off and I ask her if she could check the back since I don’t work here. She does it begrudgingly. Shit I thought the manager was supposed to be the epitamy of customer service!

Customer service is dead folks. It’s all about “it’s not my job” or “it’s not my fault.” the customer is no longer right…we’re more of a nuisance now.

Thus begins a new blog

June 21, 2008

So my mac.com blog was shut down because…well i decided i didn’t want to pay 100 bucks a year for it. And really…who wants to pay money just to post their thoughts to the web, right?

For those of you who are interested, I have a facebook profile. Just search for me on facebook and i’ll add you to my “friends list.”

Nothing much going on here…just waiting 1 more week until i become a full fledged second year resident. Both exciting and scary at the same time…but I’m ready. Ready to lead a team and to start teaching others.
